Losers React. Leaders Anticipate.

Image
“Enthusiasm is to progress toward success as gasoline is to a car’s engine. It is the fuel that drives things forward.”
Time is too precious to be wasted on arguments and discontent. Some mistakes can be corrected, but not the mistake of wasting time. When time is gone, it’s gone forever.
We have to take control of our emotions!
How many of us let a situation dictate how we react.
Letting our emotions run quickly can lead to more damage and limits us from maximizing every situation.
“Losers react. Leaders anticipate.”-T. Harv Eker
SAY IT TWICE FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.
The biggest key to controlling our emotions is maintaining enthusiasm. But there are a few principles we must use in order to do so.
Enthusiasm is a state of mind. It inspires action and is the most contagious of all emotions.
Self-Discipline makes you think before you act.
It is the process that ties together all your efforts of controlling your mind, your personal initiative, positive mental attitude and controll…

"Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”

“Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve” -Napoleon Hill
Have you ever read Think and Grow Rich?  I strongly recommend it. It’s not my favorite book by Hill, but it will change your life...forever.

This is about having a Positive Mental Attitude.

Success and progress towards achieving your goals in life begin with knowing where you are going.
Your mental attitude gives power to EVERYTHING YOU DO.
If your attitude is positive, your actions and thoughts further your ends.
If your attitude is negative, you are constantly undermining your own efforts.
Every adversity, every failure, and every unpleasant experience carries with it the seed of an equivalent benefit which may prove to be a blessing in disguise.
All of our successes and failures are results of habits we have formed.
Success attracts success and failure attracts more failure.
Your mental attitude is the only thing over which you, and only YOU, have complete control.
A positive mind finds a way it can be done…

“We’re Still The Kids We Used to Be...”

Image
“We’re still the kids we used to be...I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed, ‘cause nothing hurts anymore and I feel kind of free…” Did you ever draw a picture as a small child? And then show it to mom or dad, and they “gassed” it and said it was nice. How did you feel? It was a stick figure with crayons or markers all over the place, some misspelled words and sun.  If you showed it to your teachers, did they blow you off? Or did they engage, ask questions and let you explain what you created?  That’s what it means to show interest in others. We all are still little kids in our core.  Drawing stick figure pictures with our houses, cars, clothes, businesses. Talking with someone about a passion is the adult version of, ‘Show & Tell.’ Sometimes we need to watch the show. Yes, this can come at a price. I’ve been the victim of being the respectful young person who gets caught in a conversation that extends way past the simple, “Hello” that was my intention. There is beauty in t…

Use Time or Lose Time

Image
“Primetime. Basking in the line. Cassius in his prime. Coloring out of the line. ‘Cause they don’t want nobody that’s colored out of the line, so I’m late as a...Colored People Time.” -Kanye West
Boy I tell you. If being late was a crime, I would have served a few years.
And it’s an awful look.
Yes, I know there is a lie some people believe that it looks cool to show-up late.
Pro Tips:

If attending a networking event, show up 30-minutes early.
Why Not?
You can scope the place. Get a bit comfortable. If it’s a Happy Hour, converse with the bartender. Create that connection and now you’re the liaison between others when they arrive.
Wow, I need to do this myself. You can gather more information about the theme of the event.
You’re putting yourself in position to meet more people i.e. the point of networking!

Same rules apply to a party.
By knowing all the details for the party, when guests arrive you’re the “Best Guest” because the host is probably running around like a chicken with its h…

Be Radically Open-minded and Radically Transparent

Image
“Be radically open-minded and radically transparent.
None of us is born knowing what is true; we either have to discover what’s true for ourselves or believe and follow others. The key is to know which path will yield better results. I believe that:
Radical open-mindedness and radical transparency are invaluable for rapid learning and effective change.” -Ray Dalio
Greatest thing I learned from reading Principlesby Dalio. He is a billionaire investor. And his breakdown of this, really impacted me.
Part of having a strong personality is being flexible.
Someone who can SHIFT gears when necessary.
People appreciate someone who understands and is selfless enough to do things differently.
Think about it.
When it comes to dinners, parties, events who gets invited first? The person who is least high maintenance.
Those who don’t demand much, but are always open to having a good time and embrace the adventure. The subtleties make a huge difference for us all.
If you want to discuss more ab…

“And You Keep Your Sense of Purpose.”

Above all you keep your clarity
You keep your focus
You keep your sense of love And you keep your sense of purpose
Those are, they're integral You know, they're key
Happiness
You know, um a lot of people define success differently
You know for me
You can have everything
You could have all the money in the world
But if it's not enjoyable, if it's not sustainable, you know If you can't be a person of integrity while having all these things
What does it matter? What does it mean? The value is internal

"Show Interest In Others."

Image
“...Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak…” Excerpt from James 1:19

How many people fail at listening? So caught up in our phones that we pay no attention to the human standing in front of us. News Flash! Our phone is replaceable.
Every single part of it. Want to know what it isn’t?
Our family.
Our friends.
Even the stranger on the train that smells funny. There are 7.8 billion people roaming the planet but only one version of us all!
Show interest in others.
This has been a struggle for me because sometimes I honestly don’t care to listen to what someone has to say. But, then I’m reminded that when I speak, I like how it feels to know somebody else is listening. *Actively Listening.
Take a moment.
Think about how great it feels to talk about good news. Then, consider someone else looking at you like you’re a ghost and ignoring every word.
Stings a bit.
Oh, you don’t care? It doesn’t matter if people listen to you?
You don’t have to lie to me. Or yourself. Never underestima…
